Miami, uff vot a trip!!! the beach feeling is still in there....I was browisng thru so many sites to find all the required info regd miami, when I thought that I should also contribute some once am back from the trip, hence the blog here:)...we booked for a flight with break journey, luckily the airlines converted into a direct flight for some reason, am glad they did it! We started off on a friday morning and took the 7am flight from boston to miami...reached miami by 10:30am...it was warm n welcoming there after all the winter chill near boston. But the miami airport is so biiiig, we had to walk a loooong distance find some exit n get out!....It's better to book a rental car in advance, so that they will send a shuttle to airport. There are rental car agencies at the airport too, but lill high on the price. We booked the car through 'Advantage' rental cars, for which we took their shuttle from airport to their office, which is abt 5 mins drive. Finished the formalities there, and for ppl who dont have a credit card in US, they cant pay by cash n u've to use ur internationally accepted credit card. Also if u dont have a US credit card then u'll need to pay extra for insurance, which would be much more than the car rent itself...Finally we got a car and we are off to KeyWest, which is around 160 miles from Miami. Google maps helped us a lot for finding the route, it's pretty much easier if u follow it. For veggie junta, there are couple of italian restaurants on the way or u can stop by dunkin/starbucks/MCDonalds for a quick snack. Though the google maps show that the drive is only 3hr 30 mins, it actually takes around 4hr 30mins to 5 hrs as the speed limit is very less (varies between 30 - 50 mph). But the drive is awesome as there's ocean on both sides for most of the journey. And there are lot of islands coming on the way, called 'Keys'. KeyWest is the last island on the stretch.
A recent experience of directing a drama with children opened up new perspectives to the mother and teacher in me. As I was pondering about the art of acting as someone in a story, it dawned upon me that children are born actors. Look around to see how natural it is for a young child to imitate others all the time, so well without any inhibition or filter. A child naturally lives in the other to understand what it means to be the other - it is profound learning, and hard work that they are doing. It is only later, through the years of growing up, we gain the ability to look at others as someone else from the self. Hence we grow the ability to empathise, that we can transform ourselves to feel what it means to be in others shoes and come back to the self - much like playing a role in a drama. As we grow, we invite many roles into our lives (father, mother, brother, son, aunt etc.) and juggle between acting in different roles. We act so well that we actually live in that role and
